City Council PASSES VOTE To Slash Fire Department
SECOND VOTE SCHEDULED FOR
Tuesday, July 25th at 5:30 PM

Send A Message To The Big Spring City Leadership Today - Tell Them To STOP THE CUTS
Friends of the Big Spring Firefighters.
I must sadly report that the Big Spring City Council did vote to cut 10 vital firefighter positions and has begun the process of rolling closures at Fire Station 2.
All of your calls, all of your public comment and testimony, and all of the work firefighters have done to propose cost savings and efficiencies is being ignored and rejected.
The council voted last Tuesday to move forward with the plan that we have all fought and opposed since day one. That plan will now be read a 2nd time next Tuesday, July 25th at 5:30 PM.
Firefighters will make one final plea with city leaders to stop these dangerous and risky cuts to your family's safety. Unfortunately, it seems likely that our warnings will continue to be ignored.
I cannot thank you enough for your ongoing support and engagement of our city's leadership through this process. Even though the city does appear likely to cut the fire department and place lives and property at risk, all is not lost.
Your Big Spring firefighters will continue to do all that we can to save lives and protect property when possible. We will continue to risk our lives and try to do more with less. My team is reviewing our options while we still hold out a small bit of hope that the council can be convinced to invest in our community's safety with the significant one-time budget surpluses that they currently control.
If you're inclined, please feel free to continue to implore our Mayor, City Council, and staff to invest in your family's safety.
We'll be there next week to again oppose these life-risking cuts and will continue to stand up for your safety whenever and wherever possible.
Thank you for your support.
